Is it okay to use gardening soil for container gardening?

Hey there, so I went to ACE hardware today, and bought some containers for my vegetables, I did what hte lady reccomended and bought 4 bags of Miracle gro vegetable and plant soil, so I have it out in my garage, but upon further reading it, I noticed it said not to be used in containers!! Will it be okay if I do use it in there? Or not? Help!
I can’t exchange them.

Best reply by Woody:

Probably not,it’ll tend to compact (Become semi-solid),in containers.Return the bags for exchange would be favourite.

It might. I’d try one plant and see how it does. If it doesn’t work, get a different kind of soil.

That’s all I ever use. My 7 year old Meyer’s lemon tree is in Miracle Gro Veg N Plant soil and doing great. I repot it ever couple or three years in the same stuff, always works great.

I think the first poster is right, it’s too thick, not light and airy like potting soil..which usually has those little white puffs in them to help retain water better
I’d exchange them if possible too!
