Where can i find a list of minimum container sizes for container gardening?
Im going to try to plant some flowers/vegetables in containers but i cannot find a comprehensive list of minimum container sizes per plant. For flowers im only looking for 1 flower per pot and im wondering how small the pot can be to grow healthy.

I’m not sure I’m answering your question perfectly, but as far as I know, the pot needs to be roughly double the “spread” listed for the plant,.. maybe it’s Spread is 6″, it reaches 6″ to each side so at least a 12″ pot is best.
Most plants like it if you cleanly cut any over-growth roots.
Most often, rich organic fertilizer (perhaps deodorized) like Fish Emulsion have worked best.

You can pretty much grow anything in whatever size of pot that the root system will loosely fit in and have room to grow. The less soil you use and the more foliage that the plant has, the more often you will have to water it.
A 3′ wide plant does NOT need a 6′ wide pot. A 2′ wide plant does NOT a 4′ wide pot. A 1′ wide plant does NOT need a 2′ wide pot. Look at the pots that plants are in at garden centers and nurseries to give yourself a general idea of how big you should go. Too large of a pot is not good for plants as the soil will be more likely to stay too wet and rot the roots. Many greenhouse suppliers websites often recommend certain sized pots for certain types of plants.
I don’t know of a list like that. You need to consider how big the mature plant will grow.
A single flower might make it in a 1 gallon pot.
Tomato (one) will need at least a 3 gallon container, 5 gallon is even better…same for bell pepper, chili…
